Fun Facts about Nashville

Tennessee’s most famous city, Nashville, is properly found in both the center of the state and serves as its capital. With the fame for being one of the most influential music scenes in America, the downtown is a lively evening hub on weekends, while citizens work in numerous commercial projects such as banking, education, automotive, and healthcare industries during the weekday.

Founded in 1779, Nashville is Tennessee’s most populous city with a population of an estimated 692,587 people. The area was delegated for Revolutionary War officer Francis Nash who had died two years prior to its opening.

Nashville has been home to a bonus of diverse musical acts, various famously playing country music. Acts such as Lady Antebellum, Big & Rich, and Florida Georgia Line have been more modern regional innovators, While Diamond Rio and Dixiana have their roots there since the 1980s. Non-country acts include Kings of Leon, Paramore, and The Dead Weather. There are places to catch live music throughout the city, but in particular along Broadway, not far from Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry on 5th Avenue N. Nashville is also gathering to some of the top stops for better learning in the country. The schools include Vanderbilt University, Cumberland University, and the private Christian school at Belmont University.

Vanderbilt, founded in 1873, was ranked #15 in the Best Colleges in U.S. News and World Report 2020 Best National University Rankings. The university is base on ten schools and colleges.

The city is circled by wide open parkland, and one of the largest is Centennial Park. Two miles west of the city and near Vanderbilt, the square is host to a replica of the Parthenon, built for the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition in 1897.
